T.D. Francis X-Hour Film Contest & Festival @ DEFCON 25

The story fodder provided by the unintended use or misuse of technology is rich. Send an email if you have any questions about the suitability of your film for this festival.

  • Anything about how the misuse, or unintended use, of technology affects and impacts people and society.
  • Narrative and documentary films, 5 minutes and longer, any genre.

If that's the case, how much "hacking" or "cybersecurity" stuff has to be in the film to meet the submission criteria?

  • A romantic comedy about hackers in love? Why not?

Does that mean it has to be about hacking?

  • Anything about solving problems in unconventional ways by using, misusing, modifying the resources at hand in unusual ways. AKA improvise, adapt, and overcome.
  • An apocalyptic story about a world that was destroyed by hackers? sure.
  • Awards for:
    • Best Narrative Film
    • Best Narrative Short
    • Best Documentary Film
    • Best Short Documentary
    • More awards TBD
